Crystal River Adventure: Flats, Fish, and Fun on the Florida Coast

I had a great day out on the water with Starfish and their crew for our Fish Card trip with Thenna' DF. May is a fantastic time for fishing in Crystal River, as the warmer waters bring in a variety of species to target. We met up at 7:00 am, ready to hit the flats and try our luck. The weather was perfect - clear conditions all day, which made for excellent visibility on the water. We were excited to explore the beautiful waters around Point Reyes National Seashore and see what we could find.

We started off with some deep sea fishing, dropping our lines and jigging to see what might be biting. The crew was eager to learn, so I showed them a few different techniques. We mixed it up throughout the day, switching between deep sea tactics and fly fishing on the flats. It was great to see everyone trying out different methods and getting the hang of it. Though we didn't manage to land any big prize, we still had a great time out on the water, enjoying the clear skies and good company.

The day flew by as we moved around different spots, always on the lookout for signs of fish. Even without any catches, there's something special about being out on the flats, surrounded by the beauty of Crystal River and Point Reyes National Seashore. We saw some interesting marine life and had a few close calls with some nibbles, which kept everyone's spirits up. The crew stayed positive and kept at it, which is exactly what you want to see on a day like this.
